Another Soft Caricature by MelissaReneePohl Another Soft Caricature by MelissaReneePohl
I haven't been on here in quite a while, so I didn't get a chance to post this portrait, which I did a few months ago until now. It's mostly finished, but could still use a bit of work on the hair/nose/lips I think.

Anyway, this is the second in my series of soft caricatures of celebrities. Still working on improving my skills as far as balancing getting a likeness and caricaturing the person well though. I hope that at the very least that some people will know who this is supposed to be.

Any guesses?

Software Used: Adobe Illustrator CS5

Tools Used: Pen tool, basic shapes (elipse mostly), basic gradients, blends (just a few), and brushes.

Techniques Used: This illustration was created almost entirely by using simple transparent gradients (fades). Most are radial gradients. This technique was used throughout the image including the clouds. Brushes were used to create the shine on the hair, however, these brush strokes were later expanded and filled with transparent gradients.

And.... no Mesh tool were used! How did you get this level by only using blends and gradients? |O.o|"

Bloody hell, I wouldn't even know where to begin in Illustrator to do digital paintings D;
It almost appears the same as 3D software, so good.

This is done entirely in Illustrator?! Wow?! This looks like a lot of work... I thought it was a mix between Photoshop and Illustrator, because of the skin texture... did you create some pattern or something? Anyways - great!
thanks, yeah this was created entirely in illustrator. took about 20 hrs to do. I actually wish I was good at painting in photoshop, because I know people can do that much faster, but for now I will have to stick to vectors because I suck at digital painting! :)

Well, it doesn't matter what you use to produce something like this. Vectors are also much better if it comes to print. Stick to illustrator, it is pretty cool beeing able to handle it! :)
